We had the opportunity to visit Fort Davis, Texas right before memorial day weekend. OK I know you are probably wondering 1)what are we doing in Fort Davis Texas and 2) Where is Fort Davis, Texas??? Well, Fort Davis Texas has one of the best preserved Forts from the 1800's and just so happens to be Daniel's master's thesis project. It is basically in the middle of nowhere, but if you want an exact location Fort Davis sits in the Big Bend area of Texas about 3 1/2 hours southeast of El Paso. There is some amazing history there and is actually a quaint little town with awesome BBQ(after all we were in Texas).
This trip was not only a working trip for Daniel to collect photographic inventory and research the area, but also a family vacation. We rented a one bedroom cottage in town(It was adorable! Now I wish I had taken a picture!) and while Daniel was working the kids and I explored, and enjoyed our cottage space during nap time. The rest of the vacation we explored as a family, hiking the fort several times as well as visiting botanical gardens and walking the main street. Here are a few pictures from our excursions:
