Storm Damage December 2009

We had a storm come through our area Monday afternoon/Tuesday morning and were left with a mess to clean up. Tuesday morning about 2am we were awoken to a very loud crashing noise. Daniel and I jumped out of bed and ran straight for the kids room. The kids of course did not wake up until we turned on their light. A few minutes later we come to find out that our swamp cooler and back stair railings were pretty well smashed up. The tree limb that had fallen fell right between our house and our car. If that is not a miracle I don't know what is? Our car did not even have a scratch on it. About half an hour later another smaller limb falls straight onto our roof causing a gash in our roof, a bent patio cover and a several other interior issues. Luckily none that can't be fixed. So by this time I am beside myself and call my Mom who is staying at my sisters house to come get us. The kids and I end up spending the night at my sister's while Daniel stays at our place to make sure nothing else happens. Though a little shaken and maybe a little perturbed that the tree had not been trimmed after we had requested four separate times in the last year and a half, we are doing fine. Due to these unforeseen circumstances our plans for the week changed quite a bit. Daniel had a meeting in Texas scheduled dealing with his Thesis Project and that has been postponed till Monday. Instead we spoke with our insurance and watched some park works clear away the limbs. I have to say through all of this we are so grateful to have our family safe and we feel so blessed that things were not worse than they could have been. Heavenly Father was definitely protecting us.
